British Sugar Cup competition winner at annual student conference

British Sugar sponsored its first Icecraft Sugarpaste competition – the British Sugar Cup for cake decorating excellence at the annual conference of the Alliance for Bakery Students and Trainees annual student conference in Blackpool on May 5th.

The winner of the competition was Denise Bristow-Burrows of the Enticing Icing company from Esher, Surrey. Denise made a three-dimensional model of an owl who she named, not surprisingly, Olli.  “I was delighted to win the Gold medal and the trophies for the novelty cake section and was equally delighted at being the winner of the first Icecraft competition,” said Denise.

Icecraft Sugarpaste, a new product from British Sugar, created a great deal of interest at the show. “Icecraft sugarpaste has been specially developed with the optimum particle size for sugarpaste,” explains Sue Callaghan, British Sugar’s Technical Support Manager. “This means you get a very smooth sugarpaste which doesn’t crack or craze when covering cakes.” Icecraft is available in white and ivory and can also be coloured. “Its use in this 3-D modelling competition shows how versatile the product is” continues Sue.

Icecraft Sugarpaste, will be available from June via bakery wholesalers and stockists of Knightsbridge PME Limited.
