The student competition held during the Alliance for Bakery Students and Trainees (ABST) annual conference in Blackpool aims to gives students a chance to experiment and show off their cake confectionery skills.
Indika from Swiss Cottage, London, decorated a two tier wedding cake with Icecraft Sugarpaste which captivated the judges. Jean Grieves, Chair of the Confectionery judges, commented on the lightness of touch that she demonstrated.
As part of the competition, students used Icecraft Sugarpaste, which was launched last year by British Sugar. The product which is available in either white or ivory, can also be coloured. Prized for its overall smoothness and taste, students commented how easy the product was to use.
“Icecraft helps cake decorators achieve the flawless finish that they require, because it has been specially milled to give an optimised particle size. It gives a brighter, whiter sugarpaste with a silky smooth surface. We congratulate Indika on her masterful use of the product,” said Sue Callaghan, British Sugar’s Technical Support Manager.
